Digital Jersey has published their 2018 annual review and 2019 business plan via a bespoke virtual reality experience, available for all to enjoy throughout this year. Headsets are now available at the HUB and DJX.
Digital Jersey’s CEO, Tony Moretta said ‘last year we launched our annual review to a packed screen of 270 people at Cineworld Jersey. This year we wanted to bring something different to a larger audience, to show not only what we’ve been doing during 2018 but to demonstrate some of the very latest technology & the local capability right across our sector, who are breaking new ground with their own work on a daily basis’.
Tom Le Sueur, Snap Design & Digital’s CEO, who created the exclusive virtual reality experience for Digital Jersey said ‘Virtual Reality has come along leaps and bounds in the last few years, and the technology keeps evolving. Something that was previously seen as a gimmick, is now so realistic that users can be transcended to other worlds when viewing through the headsets.
Digital Jersey’s annual review showcases this cutting-edge technology in a completely immersive way. Viewers are transported back in time to some of Digital Jersey’s highlights of 2018. Not only can you relive some incredible events but also gain access to some restricted behind the scenes locations across our digital island. If you haven’t tried VR before or seen the Digital Jersey annual review in 360 degrees, I highly recommend you step into the headset for an out of this world experience’.
During 2018 Digital Jersey’s highlights included launching the Digital Skills Strategy with the University of Exeter, resulting in securing funding for the island’s new Digital Skills Academy, building the Digital Jersey Xchange (DJX), the Island’s first internet of things innovation lab (IoT), taking Sandbox Jersey to the UK and France, launching a Start-Up Licensing Scheme and holding the inaugural Jersey TechWeek and TechAwards.
Digital Jersey’s 2019 plans include providing support to more digital start-ups than ever before, developing Jersey into a bustling centre of IoT activity, launching the Digital Skills Academy and promoting Sandbox Jersey as an attractive and unique destination to develop and launch new ideas.
You will be able to view the Digital Jersey Virtual Reality experience at various locations throughout the Island including the Digital Jersey Hub, DJX and the JT shop on King Street.
